Shillong, June 17 -- Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Home, Prestone Tynsong, on Wednesday appealed to agitating coal miners seeking three months' time to negotiate with the Centre to relax certain clauses regarding coal mining.

Tynsong's appeal to the agitating miners came after talks between State Chief Secretary Dr Shakil Ahammed and Principal Secretary Home Fredrick Roy Kharkongor with the Jaintia Coal Owners, Miners, Suppliers and Workers Association (JCOMSWA) remained inconclusive.

"The Chief Minister (Conrad Sangma) has requested all stakeholders involved in the coal trade to wait for approximately three months," the Deputy Chief Minister said.
