London, July 1 -- Eighth seed Daniil Medvedev staged a strong comeback to defeat Spain's Daniel Merida 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 in Second Round of Wimbledon men's singles at Court 2.

After dropping the opening set to Merida's flawless serving display, Medvedev steadily tightened control of the contest, using his first serve and return pressure to dominate the next three sets.

The Russian improved his intensity in baseline exchanges and began reading Merida's serve more effectively as the match progressed.
