Hyderabad, Jan. 21 -- With just seven days left for the start of the Sammakka-Saralamma Medaram Maha Jatara, touted as Asia's largest tribal festival, the Telangana government has stepped up preparations for the smooth conduct of the four-day event from January 28 to 31.
Officials estimate that over 1.5 crore devotees will attend the biennial festival.
For the 2026 Jatara, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has sanctioned a record Rs 251 crore, the highest-ever allocation in Medaram's history.
As part of the works, Rs 100 crore was earmarked for the development of the Sammakka and Saralamma shrine complex, and the completed works were dedicated on January 19 by the Chief Minister along with a team of ministers.
