New Delhi, March 6 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has stepped up measures to curb dust pollution and strengthen the city's sanitation system through enhanced road cleaning, infrastructure repairs, and the deployment of additional equipment and manpower, an official said.

As part of its dust mitigation strategy, the civic body has deployed 52 Mechanical Road Sweepers (MRS) to clean major Public Works Department (PWD) roads measuring about 1,450 km in running length and wider than 60 feet.

With the existing fleet, around 3,400 km of road length is being mechanically swept on alternate days. To improve efficiency, the operational time of these machines has been extended by two hours.
