Bengaluru, June 28 -- Karnataka Minister MB Patil on Sunday tore into union Minister HD Kumaraswamy over the Bidadi Township controversy, questioning why neither the JD(S) nor the BJP scrapped the project during their combined two decades in power if they were genuinely concerned about farmers.

Launching a sharp counterattack against Kumaraswamy's criticism of the Congress government's township proposal, Patil said the former Chief Minister himself had initiated the Bidadi Township project in 2006 before handing it over to DLF. The project was later taken back after it failed to take off, but successive governments continued to retain it.
