Pankaj JainNew Delhi, Feb. 7 -- Delhi's Mayur Vihar Pocket-1 Metro Station has been officially renamed as 'Shri Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar', following a long-standing demand from local residents.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) confirmed the change, saying commuters will now hear the announcement, "Welcome to Shri Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar," upon arrival at the station.
Sources said the earlier names of 'Mayur Vihar Pocket-1' and 'Mayur Vihar Phase-1' stations often created confusion among passengers. Several BJP leaders had also urged DMRC to change the station's name to reflect local identity and public sentiment.
The renaming has been carried out based on recommendations from the State Names Authority (SNA).
