Lucknow, March 17 -- Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati Tuesday launched a sharp attack on rival parties, accusing them of being "anti-Dalit" and politically opportunistic ahead of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
In a statement posted on X, Mayawati criticised the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Indian National Congress, alleging that they were attempting to win Dalit votes by celebrating the birth anniversary of BSP founder Kanshi Ram despite having historically ignored him.
She termed it "laughable" that the Congress, which she said did not confer the Bharat Ratna on Kanshi Ram during its tenure at the Centre, is now demanding the honour from another party's government.
