Prayagraj, Jan. 15 -- The second bathing day of the Magh Mela, the largest religious fair held on the sands of the Sangam in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, is being celebrated on Wednesday on Makar Sankranti.

A massive crowd of devotees gathered at the Sangam ghats for the holy dip, undeterred by the cold and fog. From Brahma Muhurta (pre-dawn) until 11 am, around 2.2 million people had already taken a dip in the Triveni Sangam. Officials estimate that between 10 and 15 million devotees could participate in the bathing rituals on Thursday.

Earlier, on Ekadashi, 8.5 million devotees took a dip, while 3.1 million participated on Paush Purnima on January 3. Around 2 to 2.5 million Kalpavasis are performing a month-long penance at the Magh Mela, a...
