Shillong, Oct. 21 -- Around ten tonnes of cannabis plantations spread across 5 hectares of land in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district were destroyed by government agencies today.

The joint operation was conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), the Special Operation Team (SOT), along with officials from the Excise and Forest Department at Laitlulong village under Hima Sohiong in East Khasi Hills district.

"The multi-department systematically cut down the illegally grown cannabis plants from the entire 5-hectares area.
