Chandrapur, May 30 -- A 36-year-old married woman was allegedly murdered by an unidentified assailant who slit her throat with a sharp weapon at a labour colony under Rajura taluka of Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place at the Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) Dhopatala labour colony, where the victim, identified as Sheetal Randhir Kumbhare, had reportedly come to her maternal home with her young daughter during the summer vacation.

According to police , Sheetal was staying at Quarter No. 52/2 in the Dhopatala township.

On the night of the incident, her mother and brother had reportedly gone out for a religious visit, leaving only Sheetal and her daughter at home.
