Nagpur, July 15 -- : In a significant judgment reinforcing the principles of gender equality, the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court has ruled that a married daughter of an employee is also entitled to be considered for compassionate appointment and that her marital status cannot be a ground for disqualification.
A Division Bench comprising Justices Y. G. Khobragade and Sushil Ghodeswar stated that a married daughter continues to remain an integral part of her parental family. Therefore denying her a compassionate job solely on technical ground that she is married amounts to open gender discrimination,as clarified in the judgement.
