Tehran, June 19 -- Commercial shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz rose sharply from Thursday, with 25 vessels traversing the waterway, marking the highest daily total since April, according to marine intelligence firm AXSMarine.
The sharp increase in marine traffic comes post the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran on Wednesday, which called for the immediate reopening of the vital waterway for oil shipping.
"Yesterday, we observed 25 verified commercial vessel crossings through the Strait of Hormuz," AXSMarine said in a social media update on Friday.
