Ranchi, July 2 -- Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi on Thursday termed the suspension of the Jamshedpur SP and SSP in connection with the recent murder case as "mere eyewash" and demanded that FIRs be lodged against the policemen who were present at the scene of the crime.
In a statement, Marandi alleged that merely removing senior police officers from their posts could not be treated as punishment and said police personnel on duty should also be held accountable if the murder took place in their presence.
He questioned the police action against those allegedly linked to the hotel where the victim had dined before the incident, claiming the investigation was being diverted from the actual crime.
