Ranchi, Aug. 22 -- Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi on Saturday accused JMM workers of attacking students during protests against the state government's handling of recruitment examination irregularities and demanded the immediate arrest of those involved.
Addressing a press conference in Giridih, Marandi alleged that students were assaulted at several places, including Giridih, Hazaribag and Ranchi, while they were holding programmes to burn the effigy of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
He said the incidents were an attack on the democratic right to protest and alleged that the violence was part of a pre-planned attempt to suppress the students' movement.
