Panchkula, Aug. 30 -- Sanitation workers have put forward their demands before union Minister Manohar Lal, who said he would take up their concerns with the government and that an appropriate decision would be taken on the issues.

Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal made the remarks while speaking to reporters in Karnal after inaugurating four Smart City projects worth Rs 23.67 crore.

The Minister also faced questions on the controversy surrounding the use of the term "Meghwal". He said any demand to use "Meghwal" instead of "Chamar" would be voluntary and could not be imposed on an entire community.
