Mumbai, July 21 -- Filmmaker Chidambaram, acclaimed for crafting the survival thriller "Manjummel Boys," dismissed the idea of remaking or pushing out a sequel, as it wouldn't be an 'honest' approach towards the audience.
Despite garnering numerous lucrative bids to remake the Malayalam blockbuster in other languages and to multiply the franchise, he had simply declined them.
Explaining why "Manjummel Boys" should not be remade, Chidambaram, whose last release was "Balan: The Boy", says the film's cultural specificity is what made it resonate with audiences. "Manjummel Boys is dubbed in Hindi. A remake won't be honest, I think. That's why I refused the idea of a remake." The director admitted that the offers were financially attractive. "...
