New Delhi, Jan. 7 -- The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed that the entire 48-minute audio recording allegedly implicating former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh in the 2023 ethnic violence, along with his admitted voice samples, be forwarded to the National Forensic Science University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, for forensic examination.

A Bench comprising Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice K. Vinod Chandran gave the direction while hearing a plea seeking a court-monitored investigation into the authenticity of the audio recordings.

The Bench also directed the NFSU to expedite the forensic analysis and submit its report to the apex court in a sealed cover.
