Imphal, Sept. 15 -- "The establishment of the Manipur State Commission for Women in 2006 was a historic step to ensure that our women enjoy dignity, safety and opportunities," Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla said today.

While addressing the 19th Foundation Day celebration of the Commission at Hotel Imphal, Bhalla praised the Commission for its tireless efforts over the past 19 years in spreading awareness, holding consultations, addressing grievances, and taking up cases of rights violations with the authorities.
