Imphal, May 3 -- The Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Manipur, jointly with the All Manipur Working Journalists' union (AMWJU) and the Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM), marked World Press Freedom Day 2026 at the DIPR Auditorium, Imphal, today.
The event, observed under the global theme "Shaping a Future of Peace," brought together senior journalists, editors, and government officials to reflect on the state of press freedom and the media's responsibility in society.
Director of IPR, Dr. Th. Charanjeet Singh, who presided over the event alongside union and guild leaders, paid tribute to journalists across the world who have lost their lives defending press freedom.
