Imphal, Aug. 21 -- Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh sent off 16 candidates from Manipur on Friday, who will undergo overseas skill training in various parts of Japan under the State Livelihood Empowerment and Entrepreneurship (SLEE) initiative, at a programme held at the CM Bungalow.

Presenting each candidate with a replica of Pena, an indigenous Manipuri musical instrument, the Chief Minister urged them never to forget their roots and to remain proud of their Manipuri identity even while living and working in Japan. He said the candidates would be exposed to a foreign land, culture and pace of development, but should stay grounded in their own identity.
