Imphal, Aug. 22 -- Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Saturday felicitated Glasgow Commonwealth Games gold medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and other Manipuri athletes, who won medals or represented India at the 2026 Games.
The Chief Minister also distributed appointment letters to 71 gold medallists from the 36th and 37th National Games and announced a new sports recruitment policy that will extend government job opportunities to silver and bronze medallists as well.
The programme, organised by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium in Imphal, brought together athletes, coaches, government officials, MLAs and members of the sporting fraternity.
