Imphal, Aug. 30 -- Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has appealed to all sections of society in the state to refrain from calling bandhs or blockades to air their grievances, stating that such actions can sometimes lead to unwanted violent incidents, and urged stakeholders to adopt other forms of democratic agitation instead.
Speaking to the Information official before leaving for New Delhi on Sunday, the Chief Minister said that both the Manipur government and the Central government are committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Manipur. Calling bandhs, he said, will not serve any purpose, instead it will create additional hardship for the public.
