Imphal, Jan. 26 -- Manipur marked the 77th Republic Day with traditional fanfare at the historic Kangla Fort on Monday as Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla unfurled the national flag and reviewed a grand parade.

The celebrations took place against the backdrop of a boycott call by various organisations to express their opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

The main ceremony, held at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, saw Governor Bhalla inspect a guard of honor commanded by IPS Probationer Abhijeet Pandey before unfurling the Tricolour amid the playing of the national anthem.
