Imphal, Sept. 1 -- The State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Y. Khemchand, today approved a series of measures aimed at simplifying trade licensing and reducing regulatory burdens on businesses in Manipur.

One of the key decisions was the approval of the proposal for the draft "Manipur Unified (Trade, Shops & Establishment) Licensing Bill, 2026" for introduction in the upcoming session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

The proposed legislation seeks to establish a single Unified Trade, Shops and Establishments Licensing System across the state. It aims to eliminate dual and overlapping licences by introducing a unified licensing framework that would have overriding effect over inconsistent state laws relating to trade licensing.
