Imphal, July 14 -- Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL), a prominent civil society organisation, has submitted a memorandum to the union Home Secretary today, seeking an impartial inquiry into the alleged arson attack at Leimakhong in Imphal West district and demanding compensation, rehabilitation, and strict legal action against those responsible.
The organisation alleged that six houses belonging to members of the Meitei community were set ablaze by suspected Kuki militants on July 11 within a highly secured military cantonment area at Leimakhong.
Describing the incident as a serious security failure, the organisation stated that the attack occurred in broad daylight despite the presence of Army personnel and Central security forces.
