Imphal, Sept. 16 -- "The economy of the state is in bad shape after the crisis started in 2023", Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said while attending the 52nd Foundation Day celebration of the All Manipur Working Journalists' union (AMWJU), at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal, on Wednesday.
Following the crisis, the GST revenue which the state used to receive saw a drastic decline. About Rs. 1,200 crore in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue has been lost after 2023. The crisis has put intense pressure on the government and the state's economy is the one worst affected, he said.
The CM after arriving at the Press Club paid floral tribute at the AMWJU Memorial Stone in remembrance of journalists who had passed away.
