Patna, April 19 -- Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Bihar minister Mangal Pandey on Sunday launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party, the All India Trinamool Congress, accusing them of being "anti-women" and betraying women's rights on the issue of reservation.
Talking to newspersons here, Pandey alleged that the West Bengal government has failed to ensure women's safety, claiming that incidents of violence and atrocities against women in the state are among the highest in the country. He claimed there is widespread public anger against the state government and that people are now ready for change.
