New Delhi, Sept. 21 -- Smriti Mandhana lit up the Arun Jaitley Stadium with a record-breaking century, but her heroic effort could not prevent India Women from slipping to a 43-run defeat against Australia Women in the third and deciding ODI here tonight.
Chasing an imposing 413, Mandhana produced one of the finest knocks in women's ODI history, smashing 125 off just 63 balls - the fastest hundred by an Indian in the format. She peppered the boundaries with 17 fours and five sixes, racing to her fifty in 22 balls and completing a blistering ton with a slog-sweep off Alana King in the 18th over.
