Midnapore, June 13 -- In a significant political development for West Bengal, veteran politician and former state minister Manas Bhunia on Saturday resigned from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), bringing an end to his nearly decade-long association with the former state's ruling party.
Bhunia sent his resignation letter directly to TMC chairperson Mamata Banerjee, formally relinquishing the party's primary membership.
In his resignation letter, the six-time MLA and one of the state's most seasoned political figures cited "ideological differences" and expressed disappointment that the Trinamul Congress had moved away from the political values and principles that had once drawn him to the party.
