Puducherry, Apr 16 (UNI The Puducherry Third Additional District Judge Kothandaraman today convicted and sentenced a 66-year-old man to 10 years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.1.5 lakhs on hims in a drug trafficking case of 2003.The National Narcotics Control Bureau in Chennai received information in 2003 that some persons are smuggling drugs into Puducherry via parcels.On the basis of that officials from the bureau came down to Puducherry and arrested one Ramadass (65) of Cuddalore who smuggled the drugs.Inquiries revealed that Rs five crore worth drug was smuggled from Andhra Pradesh and the same was proposed to be despatched to Chennai, Northeastern states and Sri Lanka.He was remanded in judicial custody and lodged in the Kalapet...
