Kolkata, Oct. 26 -- A man was brutally killed after a shovel was thrust into his throat during a drunken brawl in Chetla late last night.

The incident occurred near the No. 17 bus stand in South Kolkata, sparking panic among local residents. The crime took place in Ward No. 82, represented by senior minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim.

According to police sources, the victim, identified as Ashok Paswan, was drinking with friends around 11:30 pm near the bus stand when an argument broke out among them.

In the heat of the scuffle, one of his companions allegedly stabbed him in the neck with a shovel.

Severely injured, Ashok ran nearly 100 meters before collapsing on the road.
