Srinagar, June 27 -- A man was killed in an explosion in the upper reaches of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Saturday after he reportedly came into contact with an old explosive object, officials said.
Police said information about the incident was received at around 3 pm, following which police and security personnel rushed to the remote behak area. The deceased was identified as Zubair Ahmad Bajjad, a resident of Lateefabad Khudpora, Chandoosa, Baramulla.
Police said preliminary inquiry suggests the explosion occurred when the victim came into contact with an old explosive object lying in the area, resulting in his death.
