Chandigarh, Aug. 25 -- The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SVACB), in a crackdown on corruption, arrested Rajiv, a resident of Risalwa village, red-handed while accepting a Rs 75,000 bribe for releasing pending construction dues of a Gram Panchayat in Karnal district, according to a Bureau press release issued on Tuesday.
Sukhbir, the Panchayat Secretary of the Risalwa Gram Panchayat, has also been implicated in the case. He is currently absconding and efforts are underway to arrest him.
As per the Bureau's press release, the complainant's firm constructed the boundary wall of a general public meeting hall in Risalwa village, for which the total payment was Rs 5,16,800.
