Washim, May 17 -- A 47-year-old man was arrested in Maharashtra's Washim district for allegedly defrauding an unemployed youth of Rs 1.73 lakh by luring him with a false promise of a government job and issuing a forged appointment letter, police officials said on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Ramesh Ramkrishna Navghare, was apprehended following an investigation conducted by the Local Crime Branch (LCB) into an alleged recruitment scam linked to a post in the Panchayat Samiti.

According to police, the complainant had approached the Washim City Police Station alleging that Navghare assured him of securing a government post of PTO (Panel Technical Officer) in the Washim Panchayat Samiti by claiming influence in the recruitment process....
