Agartala, June 2 -- A man has been detained for impersonating a member of the Border Security Force (BSF) and defrauding local traders in Panisagar in Tripura's Unakoti district for a long time.
The accused, identified as Uttam Chakma from Ujan Machmara of the district, allegedly posed as a BSF personnel for nearly two years and deceived traders in Panisagar Market, Chamtilla, Bilthai, and nearby areas.
According to reports, he gained the trust of traders by falsely presenting himself as a BSF personnel and then borrowed money or obtained goods without making payments. Several traders who claimed to have been victims of his fraudulent activities had been searching for him for a significant amount of time.
