Kolkata, Feb. 24 -- Hours after the union Cabinet approved the renaming of Kerala as 'Keralam' on Tuesday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said West Bengal continued to be "deliberately deprived" of approval for its proposal to change the state's name to 'Bangla'.

Banerjee congratulated the people of Kerala on the fulfilment of their long-standing demand but alleged that a "written nexus" between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) made the change possible.

"I have no objection to other states changing their names. Let other states change their names. We are flexible. We are not against any state. We love all states," she said.

"My question is why West Bengal's proposal has remained stalled for year...
