Kolkata, July 25 -- Former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee rode pillion on a scooter to Lalbazar on Saturday after police detained Kalighat faction leaders Kunal Ghosh and Baishyanor Chattopadhyay following the Calcutta High Court's refusal to allow a rally by the Kalighat faction of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) over the alleged NEET question paper leak.

The Kalighat faction of the TMCP had planned to take out a march from Padmapukur to Moulali via CIT Road in protest against the examination paper leak.

Supporters had started assembling at Padmapukur from the afternoon, with leaders including Kunal Ghosh, Baishyanor Chattopadhyay and Dola Sen present at the venue.
