Kolkata, Aug. 26 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today launched a sharp attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent remarks branding Trinamool Congress leaders as "thieves," saying that BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra were "the biggest thieves."Speaking at a public rally in Burdwan, Banerjee said, "I respect your chair, but I must ask: why did the Prime Minister call Bengal a thief? Your double-engine government in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra are the biggest thieves. You hold meetings with gang leaders of thieves."She accused Modi of coming to Bengal "like a migratory bird before elections" to rake up issues like NRC and to malign the state.
