Kolkata, March 8 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday greeted people on International Women's Day and used the occasion to reiterate her criticism of the Centre over the recent hike in cooking gas prices, calling for women in the state to join a protest march against the move.
In a message posted on her X handle, Banerjee extended greetings while highlighting the contribution of women in society and recalling several prominent women associated with Bengal's history.
"I salute this soil of Bengal - the land of Pritilata Waddedar, Matangini Hazra, Kalpana Dutta, Bina Das, Suniti Choudhury and Mother Teresa," she wrote.
