Kolkata, Sept. 8 -- Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee is set to take part in a political programme outside Kolkata for the first time since the party's electoral setback, with a protest march scheduled in Hooghly's Sreerampore on September 11.

The Hooghly district unit of the TMC has called for a march against alleged police inaction and atrocities by the BJP.

However, the programme has run into a legal hurdle as the district administration has not yet granted formal permission for the procession.

The district TMC leadership has consequently moved the Calcutta High Court, seeking permission.

Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya on Monday allowed the petition to be filed, with the matter likely to come up for hearing later this week. ...
