Kolkata, Oct. 30 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today paid her glowing tribute to India's legendary scientist Homi J Bhabha on his birth anniversary.
Homi J. Bhabha was an Indian nuclear physicist and the "father of India's nuclear program" who established key institutions like the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).
Born in Mumbai on this day in 1909, he earned his Ph.D. from Cambridge University and was known for his vision of self-reliance in nuclear science for India. He served as a scientific advisor to the Prime Ministers and received numerous honors, but died in a plane crash in 1966.
