Kolkata, May 9 -- Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the police administration and the BJP, alleging that permission was denied to programmes organised by "Desh Bachao Ganatantrik Mancha" to celebrate Rabindra Jayanti here.
Speaking at a small programme organised near her Kalighat residence, Banerjee claimed that the police did not allow the organisation to hold Rabindra Jayanti events at three proposed venues, including Kalighat Fire Station crossing and Kalighat More.
"We have been observing Rabindra Jayanti, Gandhi Jayanti and Netaji Jayanti since our childhood. Now, permission is being denied even for such cultural programmes," she alleged.
