Kolkata, Oct. 30 -- Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today sought to reassure people across West Bengal amid rising anxiety over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, following a series of alleged suicide cases linked to fears of exclusion.
"To my brothers and sisters across Bengal, I want to assure you that as long as we are here, you have nothing to fear. Your rights, your dignity, and your future are safe," Banerjee wrote on her X handle, urging people not to panic or take any extreme steps.
Her appeal came after three tragic incidents within 72 hours of the SIR announcement - in Panihati (North 24 Parganas), Dinhata (Cooch Behar), and Illambazar (Birbhum).
