Kolkata, June 13 -- Former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday alleged that the police broke open the locks of Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee's Kalighat residence and carried out a search operation inside the house.

"The police broke open the lock and searched the entire house. This is unprecedented. They entered despite the court's directions and conducted a raid. We strongly condemn this action," Banerjee alleged while speaking to reporters outside the residence.

The allegation came after a large contingent of state and Kolkata Police personnel reached Abhishek Banerjee's Patuapara residence in Kalighat in the early hours of Saturday.
