New Delhi, June 8 -- In a major development in the Malviya Nagar guest house fire case that claimed 22 lives, the hotel accountant was arrested after he surrendered before the Saket Court on Monday.

The court subsequently remanded accountant Jay Mishra to two days of police custody for further interrogation.

Delhi police sources have claimed Mishra played a key role in the administrative and licensing-related affairs of the hotel.

"Several operational functions, including regulatory approvals, licences, NOCs and compliance documentation, were allegedly handled through accountant Jay Mishra and manager Rakesh," a source said.
