Ottawa, Nov. 3 -- American figure skater Ilia Malinin broke his own free skate record to win the men's title at the 2025 ISU Skate Canada International.

Malinin, who also won the Grand Prix in France, scored 228.97 points in the free skate to surpass his previous world record of 227.79 and finished with 333.81 overall on Sunday.

He finished more than 76 points ahead of runner-up Aleksandr Selevko of Estonia on 257.21, with Japan's Kao Miura third on 253.69.

In the women's singles, Japan's Mone Chiba totaled 217.23 points to claim her first Grand Prix title, ahead of Isabeau Levito of the United States. Japan's Ami Nakai took bronze with 203.09.
