Mulugu, July 28 -- Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) on Tuesday called upon people to actively participate in the state government's 'Jalasiri' programme to harvest rainwater and recharge groundwater in view of the anticipated impact of El Nino.
Addressing a Jalasiri awareness seminar and Mandal General Body meeting in Mulugu, the minister urged people to voluntarily construct soak pits under the slogan, "A soak pit for every home, a recharge pit for every village and a farm pond for every crop."She said Gram Sabhas would be held over the next two days to identify and finalise development works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
