Nahan, May 21 -- A major crackdown against illegal mining in the three ranges under the Nahan Forest Division in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh early Wednesday morning created a stir.
On the instructions of the DFO, Nahan, teams from the Nahan, Kolar, and Trilokpur ranges simultaneously took to the roads in different areas early in the morning.
During this, the teams set up checkpoints in Katasan, Dosarka, Sainwala, and Kala Amb areas.
The action was so sudden that many truck operators fled the scene, dumping mining material on the national highway.
Divisional Forest Officer, Nahan, Avni Bhushan Rai, was present at the scene with the team. The department's teams were active at around 3 am and the operation continued until 7 am.
