Mohali, July 14 -- Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia, who is currently lodged in New Nabha Jail in a disproportionate assets case, has filed a petition in the Mohali district court requesting a change of his barrack.

Citing concerns over security and entitlement to special category facilities, Majithia's counsel pressed for his relocation within the jail premises.

The petition came up for hearing on July 14, but the Punjab government did not file its response, following which the court scheduled the next hearing for July 17.
