Neeraj BaliChandigarh, June 15 -- Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia was granted interim bail by an Amritsar court on Monday in a case related to alleged attempts to secure the release of a supporter from police custody and accusations of creating a disturbance inside a police station.
The case had led to an intensive police search operation, with authorities constituting multiple teams to trace and arrest Majithia after an FIR was registered against him at Majitha police station. Police had alleged that Majithia and his supporters entered the police station premises, brandished weapons, tore official case files, and attempted to forcibly free a detained supporter.
